2025 Legislative Priorities: Driving Change for Inclusion
As we look ahead to 2025, ABLE NH is focusing on bold legislative action to address the critical issues facing people with disabilities and their families. Our priorities reflect our commitment to building a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive New Hampshire.
Here’s what we’re working on this year:
- Expanding Accessible Housing Options
Advocating for increased funding and incentives to create affordable, accessible housing for people with disabilities, while addressing systemic barriers like zoning restrictions and licensing for group homes. - Improving Transportation Access
Supporting bills that expand public transit coverage, make paratransit services more affordable and efficient, and provide financial assistance for adaptive vehicle modifications. - Enhancing Mental Health Supports
Advancing policies that integrate mental health services into community-based care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), ensuring access to trauma-informed and neuro-affirming care. - Strengthening Supportive Education
Pushing for increased funding for inclusive education, professional development for educators, and protections for students with disabilities to learn in supportive, inclusive environments. - Advancing Employment Opportunities
Promoting legislation that strengthens workforce development programs, eliminates subminimum wages, and ensures equitable access to meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. - Protecting Voting Rights
Advocating for accessible voting processes, including expanded use of accessible voting machines, mail-in ballots, and voter registration drives targeting individuals with disabilities.
This year, we are doubling down on our efforts to ensure that the voices of people with disabilities are front and center in legislative decision-making. We will collaborate with families, self-advocates, and community partners to testify at hearings, meet with lawmakers, and organize grassroots advocacy campaigns.
Together, we can turn these priorities into actionable change. Join us in making 2025 a year of progress and inclusion for all!
