Supportive Education
Supportive education, often called special education, provides tailored instruction and resources to help students with disabilities succeed in school. The focus is on creating environments that adapt to meet each student’s unique needs, ensuring they have the same opportunities as their peers. Inclusion plays a big part in this, meaning students with disabilities learn alongside others in regular classrooms whenever possible. This approach promotes equity, a sense of belonging, and access to the same learning and activities, supported by tools like co-teaching, flexible teaching methods, and assistive technology. While we do not have a supportive education task force, ABLE NH is committed to engaging in supportive education discussions to educate and promote the rights and equality of children and their families who experience disabilities.
