Transportation Bills 2025
Transportation is essential for independence, employment, healthcare, and community involvement. Yet, for many people with disabilities, reliable and accessible transportation remains a significant barrier. At ABLE NH, we’re advocating for policies and programs that address these challenges and make transportation more inclusive.
We’re currently tracking legislation that:
- Expands funding for accessible public transportation services in rural and urban areas.
- Advocates for affordable paratransit and ride services.
- Supports driver education programs tailored for individuals with disabilities.
- Incentivizes the development of accessible vehicles, including subsidies for adaptive driving equipment.
Key issues include long wait times for paratransit, limited geographic coverage of public transit, and the cost of adaptive vehicles and modifications. These barriers can isolate people with disabilities, preventing them from accessing jobs, schools, healthcare, and social opportunities.
ABLE NH is working with policymakers, transportation providers, and advocacy groups to push for solutions that meet the needs of the disability community. We’re also amplifying the voices of people with lived experience to highlight these issues and drive legislative change.
